Four suitcases and two tired children is the version of this journey we plan for. Tsukuba Express Asakusa has lifts from platform to street, and the last stretch to the gate is one minute on flat ground — no steps, no kerb to lift a case over. If you would rather not carry anything at all, take a taxi from either airport or from the station: fares are on the card above, drivers take cards, and the Japanese address is a copy button away. Show it, say nothing, and you will be at the gate.

When to buy the JR Pass
The JR Pass (¥50,000–100,000 for 7–21 days) makes financial sense only if you travel to multiple cities — Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, etc. For Tokyo-only stays, it is almost never worth the cost.
